California RVT Alternate Route Program – Veterinary Allied Staff Education

Unfortunately, due to California law this application process can not be completed online at this time.

Program Information

The Registered Veterinary Technician Alternate Route Program is completed 100% online from the student’s own computer at our website www.vetstaff‐edu.com. It is a lecture hall setting and does run live. No laboratory set up is needed for the lecture portion of the Alternate Route Program. To qualify for this program, you must have or be close to having 4,416 hours, in no less than 2 years, work experience with a California Licensed Veterinarian. It is a 17‐18 week program consisting of 306 clock hours with class times being Monday – Thursday from 6pm until 10pm.

E-Learning Self-Assessment

VASE Online Course: This course is a live online streamed course where you will be able to use your computer to hear the instructor and view a slide deck presentation in real time. You will be able to interact with the instructor and your classmates using an online chat program built into the live classroom software platform. Your computer will need high-speed internet service, up-to-date internet browser software (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox) along with speakers in order to hear the instructor. You will also be required to complete online quizzes and exams using your internet browser.

1. I recognize that the VASE online course is a live streamed class, and that attendance is required of me from 6pm to 10pm Monday through Thursday for the 17 weeks duration of the course.*

This program only requires basic computer requirements: A desktop or laptop computer. High-Speed internet access and a speaker. If you don’t have those or can’t get those prior to the class program you will not be able to complete this program.

Very basic. I have used e-mail, Web browsers and word-processing software, but I get frustrated when things don’t work the way they should.

This program is completely online using access to an online website that provides quizzes and handout materials, as well as an online live stream classroom lecture. This program will require self-motivation and discipline to complete. You will be required to attend live online streamed class nightly Monday through Thursday and complete online assignments, quizzes and exams.

Am comfortable troubleshooting the problem on my own or have someone available to me to help with troubleshooting.
Am comfortable following instruction from a telephone support person that can walk me through troubleshooting my problem.
Don’t have a clue how my internet service works and if service breaks, I will wait for the service provider to come and fix it even if it means days.

This program does require some familiarty and skill with computers and internet access. However, we don’t need you to be an IT wizard. We do provide technical support during the live class by telephone. If you can follow basic instruction from a technical support person please consider revising your answer above to continue.
